| I had some pieces of recycled plywood here that had interesting surface textures so I spent some time mulling around for an idea of something "creatively different" I could come up with. Occurred to me I didn't even have any cats-only Welcome signs up at time either. For shame! *-) With all the twinkling lights of Christmas still in my mind and winter actually just setting in (!), the gardener in me is already longing for green and warmth and flowers and COLOR. Some of us do spend a lot of time at this time of year looking out the window and dreaming...which brought to mind sitting in church services and studying the light as it shone through the windows that some artist or artists had lovingly and with inspiration put together somewhere in the unknown past. And so were born these beautiful jewel-toned Welcome signs! Who says "recycled" can't be useful and beautiful and whimsical all at the same time?!? They could also double as "Welcome to My Garden" signs, don't you think?

A sweet, soft green-eyed little furry blue cat jaunts happily through a summer garden. Striations run primarily horizontally on this one but there is also a distinct linear scratch running almost vertically about in the middle of the piece. Sunflowers have an orange tint, carried through in the flowers to the right. Hollyhocks are shades of pink, again repeated in the flowers beneath the sunflowers. Sky in this one has a cooler blue hue. Ochre lettering. Satin varnish. Measures 12-1/2" wide x 10-1/8" high. Edges painted dark green. Back rough, with one large knot defect.

The irregularities in the surface of this piece are
mainly horizontal, so you get the feel of a breeze blowing through. Kind of goes along with the impish look in the cat's eyes, like he's just about ready to go on a wild, tearing streak, just for fun. The sky's hue tends towards warm Cerulean. Hollyhocks are shades of pink. Sunflowers are bright yellows/ochre. Lettering is ochre. Satin varnish. Sides dark green. Backside left rough. Sign measures 11-1/2" wide x 10-3/4" high.Allow 2# shipping wt.

The cute little Manx tabby has its eye on
something! Sign measures 12" wide x 11" high. This is done on a piece of recycled plywood that has both horizontal striations and quite a bit of vertical surface irregularities. I thought all these really gave the impression of a stained glass window. *There's a oblique vertical surface crack that extends from somewhere in the stem of the tallest sunflower all the way to the bottom.
