Remember these are all handpainted, one-of-a-kinds! Most of the following signs are done on thin Basswood plaques* which measure 7-1/8"
x 5-1/8". (Exceptions are noted in the descriptions.) *Unfortunately, Chippendale Basswood plaques seem to have become unavailable in the style and sizes that seemed most popular, so the lucky ones are you who will snap up what's here now. If anybody knows of a source of them, please let me know! Unless otherwise specified, the edges are painted in metallic "Emperor's Gold" or "Antique Gold." Satin finish. Backs are unpainted unless otherwise specified in the description. Ready for you to mount according to your needs: temporarily with any of the modern mounting tapes, etc., or permanently with brads or screws. Allow 1# shipping wt. each.
*Please be aware that wood does not lend itself easily to being cut against the grain
as these ornate curves require, so that the edges in areas appear to have a rough surface, unlike a metal surface. This is inherent to the nature of wood and cannot be overcome by any amount of sanding.

This 5.5" x 7" oval pine powder room sign features bicolor blue iris painted on
 parchment colored background. Lettering and borders are powder blue. Fresh and elegant yet fits right in as Country decor. Hole drilled in back for hanging. I've shown what it would look like if you wanted to affix a grosgrain (or other type) ribbon for hanging. This detailed bicolor fringed pink iris is striking against a Wedgwood blue background. The metallic gold lettering adds a touch of elegance. Edges done in same metallic gold. Nice satin finish gives it a waxed look. Very striking and "different". Basswood. 5" x 7" Chippendale style.

Here's one waiting for the certain person who's been hunting for something "just right" for their hard-to-match color scheme! A beautiful pale apricot over lemon fringed bicolor iris being visited by a butterfly is set off by a soft Wedgwood blue background. The gold lettering draws attention to the gold markings in the butterfly's wings. The same bright metallic gold finishes the sign's edges. Satin finish. Basswood. 5" x 7". Very fresh and elegant!

With the high-key, soft colors of this large plaque, it was very difficult to try to show it correctly in webcolor. The larger image gives you a better impression of the overall details, whereas this smaller inset image is more accurate as to actual appearance. Background is buttermilk (a cream with a yellowish tone, as shown in small insert.) The rose is done in soft colors reminiscent of a watercolor. The deep pink of the roses's shadowed petals are carried out in the "tole" striping around the edges, which are accented in the white of the lettering. The round top inset rosebud with lattice behind completes the look and feel of Cottage Chic. A fresh and delightful way to invite people in to your facilities. Edges are completed in deep pink. Satin finish. Hang with small brads or ornate tacks, possibly by double stick tape applied on back. Large sign measures 9¾" long by 7½" wide x 3/8" thick birch.

This powder room door sign features a kind of saucy looking young Victorian lady with her parasol, standing by the obligatory potted fern on a stand. Background is ivory. Slate blue borders carry forward her outfit which is in hues of the same blue. Quill pen detailing. Satin finish. Measures ¾" thick x 5" wide x 7" long, pine with French corners. A very elegant and striking sophisticated silver haired Victorian lady in Indigo seemed to be most fitting against a linen background . Lettering and frontispiece border in buttermilk. This young Victorian woman is dressed for a fancy afternoon outing of some sort. She's just borderline saucy in appearance and expression. This one's a little bit Down Home Country with the cream colored background and border of dots. The fresh faced rather plain strawberry blonde Victorian gal in her dark red calico dress looks all set to go into town, judging by the matching purse she's carrying. Edges are finished in Napa red, which carries forward the colors in her calico dress. Lettering is also in Napa red. Satin finish. Hand painted one-of-a-kind on Chippendale style 5 x 7 x ¾" pine. These are little works of fine art put to a practical purpose! I liked this particular design and "mood" so painted a number of them over a period of time-- not patterns, each one distinctly different due to coloring, brushstrokes, etc. These are the last two and there won't be any more! They are quite dark and rich in tones, as even the web color shows. Each is predrilled for hanging from a brad at center top. Gold painted edges. Wt. each = ~3 oz. Sweet calico and orange kittens in a cute little basket brimming with soft blue flowers, on ivory background. This is a one-of-a-kind little painted sign that will make you feel good every time you look at it! Lettered in green. Farthest outer rim is a green wash. Would go with just about any color scheme. Satin varnish. Pine round with turned, grooved edges measures 5" across by 3/4" thick. Hangs from back (drilled hole for brad or nail).

Very blue eyed longhaired blue-grey kitten peeps out of a basket brimming with baby'sbreath and (probably) forget-me-nots. Ivory background. Lettering is sort of a powder blue. Edge trim is in a deeper soft blue. Satin varnish over all. Pine round with turned, grooved edges measures 5" across by 3/4" thick. Hangs from back (drilled hole for brad or nail).

Cowgirls & Cowboys Facilities door signs

 Fun matching set of door signs for cowgirls and cowboys, big or small. (Cartoons rarely offend anybody, even in this hypersensitive day and age!) These are done on ¼" thick plywood and measure ~3" x 10". Webcolor doesn't correctly show their mellow wood tone, which I left natural. I applied a couple of coats interior/exterior gloss polyurethane varnish so they could withstand a little weathering, if necessary (i.e., if you've got temp. outhouses, etc.) Handpainted freehand, so your set will be different from any others I might make! W. C. signs Unless indicated otherwise, these are one-only items! Please do not order in multiples hoping I'll make you more "on order." As they are not mass produced or stenciled, each one will be a bit different. Therefore, as I paint one and have it finished to go, I usually post a photo of that individual creation. If you found a design that you like and wish you could get more than one of it, please continue to check back on a regular basis.

This one's the pot at the end of the rainbow for you if you're one of those people who actually sticks to authentic color schemes of Victorian times in your Victorian decorating theme and has the chutzpah to celebrate using mustard (dark ochre)! This Victorian lady is done on an ivory background surrounded by deep ochre border. She carries an ochre purse to compliment her green dress. I splattered the whole works after I finished, to give it an age-spotted appearance. Nicely varnished. I've drilled a hole in the back so you can easily hang it simply from a small nail, brad or screw. Done on ¾" thick grooved pine, it measures 7" in length and 5" across at its widest.

For those of you looking for something understated and tongue-in-cheek retro, this is just the thing! Small, "discrete" door markers measure approx. 3¼" high by 5¼" long by 1/2" thick (wood). * Light enough to apply with double-sided mounting tape. With these shown, I tried to make them mimic ivory porcelain (but please remember they are wood---don't expect the impossible!). Individual variations are detailed with descriptions for each.

Redneck Door Markers Here are just the thing to show you, too, (tongue-in-cheek) have
 Sometimes the rest of us "out there" get just a little bit fed up with all the pretense going on with seemingly everybody. Small, "discrete" door markers measure approx. 3¼" high by 5¼" long by ½" thick. Light enough to apply with double-sided mounting tape. Nice wood grain shows through neutral stain which would go well with oak, pine or any of the lighter stains they're using on doors and cabinetry these days. Again, as noted in the box under W.C. signs just above, unless indicated otherwise, these are one-only items. Please do not order in multiples hoping I'll make you more "on order"!
