 The sign shown is particularly nice in a rustic way, with the old weathered painted wood as a base, making it a wonderful one-of-a-kind. Done in casein. Colors are muted as illustration shows. Faux birch wood lettering. Has bent wire hanger which can easily be removed for hanging with screws instead, if desired. This is one of my favorites!  Large sign approx. 19 wide x 11-1/2 high irregularly shaped weathered barnwood, measures over 18" overall ht. with bent rusted baling wire hanger. Done in casein. Image above is from a photograph but I wasn't able to get the coloring accurate for Webcolor. See image to the right for better approximation.

Make your visitors wonder whether you're glad to see them... or not? Very much a tongue-cheek greeting for the guest quarters. Growling bear guarding the huckleberry patch says "Enjoy your stay". Measures 12" x 18" on weathered plywood, hand cut into old fashioned Innkeeper's sign shape (Colors are so dark, please see enlargement to check out sign shape, etc.). Impressionistic style. Casein and acrylic painting with semi-gloss finish on piece of weathered wood. Background is deep pine green. Screw eyes and wire back hanger. Definitely one of a kind! Actual wt = 2# 11 oz.

 One of a kind for a one-of-a-kind Dad. This says it all! Even the piece of wood looks like the bear's been at it (although the left end has been cut with a saw). A piece of fine art casein painting. How could Dad be mad at anyone who gave him this? Bent baling wire hanger; pre-drilled wood, so wire can removed for alternative form of hanging, if desired. Perfect for lodge, cabin or home, this large (18" wide x 11 3/4" high) handcut weathered wood arch sign features a tranquil lake scene of a large loon in the foreground and two other loons in the distance. "Welcome" is done in cattail fronds. I've left the natural color of the wood showing around the edges of the one-of-a-kind painting. Edges are deep green. Satin finish. Hangs from screw eyes and wire on back. A work of fine art and a beautiful sign all in one!

This sign has all the "atmosphere" you need to compliment your cabin or lodge. Not too big and not too small, could fit just about anywhere! Measures 11 5/8" wide by 11 1/2" high. With the classy dark brass link chain hanger, total height is 15 1/2". Colors are quite muted and low key, which makes the loon's patterning really stand out, echoing the birches in the background and the lettering in "WELCOME." The satin varnish heightened the colors and gave a rich, dark patina to the weathered wood. I also sanded off edges for that "shabby chic" worn look. Edges are dark Midnight Blue.  Beautiful painting of a loon is done on this hand cut piece of 1/2" weathered wood which has both a slightly rough and slightly checkered surface. Smallish sign measures approx. 7-1/2" wide x 9-5/8" high, just perfect for rustic look and to tuck into small spaces in your getaway cabin. Lettering and sign edges done in teal. Borders of rust red outlined with "gold." Entire sign is quite low key and low contrast. Signed painting + ©Austin Originals on front. Here's a fun tongue-in-cheek sign to hang for your summertime guests. Done on a weathered, knotty piece of wood, I've made the surface "match" by sanding it down here and there after lettering it and making streaks of variations in the basic background's paint color. It really looks like it may have been hanging around awhile! (I didn't scuff up the central painting, but it, too, has weathering cracks through it. Please see the enlargement page!)  Swan Welcome Sign (arch) #1 Click on picture to see enlargement. Beautiful deep cerulean waters offset the gliding swan. Entire sign exudes a feeling of peace and serenity. "Welcome" is a light teal-blue, outlined with gold paint. Sign's edges are done with a green wash, gold paint in a groove intervening between it and the furthest back border of cerulean blue. Light gloss finish. Back is painted matte black, with screw eyes and wired for hanging. Measures 13-5/8" wide by 7" high. *There is an indented linear area in the wood in the letter "L" and some dents bordering the back on the bottom. Likewise, because of the nature of wood being cut cross-grain, the right side of the upper border is quite rough to the touch. None of these affect sign's integrity.
