Western, Lodge, Cabin Welcome signs
Snoozing Bear Tole Welcome Sign 11-3/8" wide x 14.5" high. Click picture to see enlrgmt. One-of-a-kind fun sign handpainted on rough-out knotty side of wood panel which has been hand-cut and specially stained on front side for this painting of a big, fat bear making himself cozy in the leather furnishings of somebody's cabin, nightcap and all. For your guests, it states simply "Welcome" "Enjoy our lodgings". Lettering is in blue and pine green, side borders blue, the tole decorations combo of blue, red, pine and buttermilk. Has been further "antiqued" around the edges by sanding where anything would normally get a lot of wear from bumping and handling. Then it was given a nice satin finish. Screw eyes and wire for hanging on unfinished back. Seems like it would make anybody snug in and feel right at home! I've shown an enlargement (below) of the bear portion for your closer scrutiny.

This is a very rustic sign that I made on a rough piece of oak that I left pretty much "as is", dirt and all. (Backside is exceedingly rough and totally unsanded!) The painting of a cabin tucked in the woods with a rowboat anchored on the nearby beach is done in fresh, lush casein, with the faux-branches lettering also done in acrylics. I used a couple small old electrician's staples to wire on the baling wire hanger. I've put my identifying tag on the backside. Measures ~ 15-3/4" x 5-3/4" high, ~11" hanging height. Weighs 1" 2 oz.; must allow 2# shipping wt.

English cottage welcome sign with scene of lady and her dog near doorway, alongside the picket fence. Roses twine up the side and more roses and hollyhocks bloom in the garden nearer the foreground. Sign is hand cut from piece of rough 1/2" plywood measuring approx. 7-1/2" x 10-3/4". Deep blue lettering contrasts with burgundy and "gold" borders. Edges are in blue. Gloss finish on front. Back is rough, unfinished, with my label adhered. Screw eyes and wire for hanging (on back). Sign is quite dark and low key (low contrast). Shipping wt. = 12 oz

Any cowboys or wannabe cowboys out there? This is done on a 1/4" recylced piece of wood measuring 7-3/4" high by 15-3/4" long. first I gave it a wash of light ivory paint (it does NOT have a yellowish hue as it may show up on your browser!). Then I did the painting of the the three horses and lettered it, then went back and sanded and scruffed it up for that old (aka "shabby chic") look. After I took this picture, I drilled holes and added a soft black bent wire hanger that adds another 4-1/2" or so to the overall height. Signed on front. Satin varnish. Back painted flat black and has my label applied.

"Come on in and sit a spell". Here's one for Paint lovers! This was done on a rather large squarish dark stained piece. The dog is paitently keeping the horse company. We all know how long those "settin' spells can get! Sign measures 11 3/6 x 11.5 H before wire for hanging is added. It has a satin varnish and then has been sanded off on the edges for that Shabby Chic, used and abused look. Actual wt. = 15 oz.

"Mosey in 'n' sit a spell"
No explaination necessary! Sign done on 12 1/4" x 9 1/4 x 1/2" piece of recycled wood that has horizontal striations. I've left the raw wood showing behind the painted insert. If done on canvas, the painting alone would really set you back! The edges are done in brown, carried over to the front for that old-fashioned Vintage Western loo that simulates wood burning. I've given it a soft satin varnish. *The bright blue you see is the background, NOT part of the sign! The photo was taken before I drilled the upper corners for the wire hanger. Actual wt.1#
